The request
The client is a medium-sized hospital in the west of the country, which was established as the result of a merger of two hospitals in the beginning of the 1990s. A new merger took place in 2003, this time with two nursing homes and a care home.
IT was in fact largely limited to managing systems that had existed for some time. Due to budgetary reasons, the position of Information Manager was not filled at the beginning of 2002. However, in addition to excellent IT management, the hospital environment also requires further development of the functionality and service provision. Other care providers and care insurers expect, for example, possibilities for electronic information exchange.
In addition, the merger brings along complex management issues: what information is of vital importance to which discipline or type of care and how should this need for information be achieved?
The hospital's previous IT manager had already been working on that for some time and recently retired. Inadequate replacement provisions were made within the department. Given that the care sector does not have such a good reputation within the IT world, the client was unable to make contact with the right candidate. At this point Vitrum was brought in with the following request:

Result
Within a relatively short period an appropriate candidate was appointed to a difficult position that was hard to fill. The appointed candidate, who came from the IT consultancy industry, was able to commence work at short notice.
